Who is Imam Alfred?
Imam Alfred Mohammed is a senior Imam at the Harlem Islamic Center (NY), a 4th Ward City Councilman in Linden, NJ, and a psychoanalysis student at the Blanton Peale Institute. With a master’s in liberal arts and decades of service as a prison chaplain and spiritual guide, he merges Islamic teachings, psychological healing, and grassroots activism to tackle systemic issues plaguing Black America.

Alfred Imam is dedicated to reforming and uplifting young African Americans through spiritual wisdom, psychoanalytic insight, and community leadership. Through the Urban Peace Academy, he works to dismantle the destructive legacies of slavery, the war on drugs, and Black-on-Black crime—what he calls "Kin Killing Kin (KKK)."
His mission is to:
Educate on the systemic roots of violence and trauma in Black communities.
Empower youth by amplifying their voices and sharing their lived experiences.
Reform by deglamorizing crime and fostering peace, accountability, and unity.
With over 50 years as an imam, a chaplain in correctional facilities, and a city councilman, Imam Alfred Imam bridges faith, mental health, and policy to create lasting change.
